Only caveat: there is an extra charge if your pickup/drop off is outside the Patong area (which they do state). I find the per person price a bit steep if you are a larger group, but fair if it’s only 1-2 of you.
Otherwise, great time and would recommend.
I'll never forget being underwater on that reef. It's like a whole city of coral and fish down there. One of the highlights of my trip to thailand and I highly recommend doing it
However, we booked for a full day for 71 euros and were told the day before that we need to book only for half a day because of a lack of people. So that's what we did and it cost us 63 euros for half the experience minus the lunch, so that stung a bit.
The beginning of the tour start with the driver waiting for you in the lobby of the hotel and showing your name on a piece of paper, you then get inside a van with people you don't know, it feels a bit like the beginning of a squid game lol.
You then have access to drinks (and maybe snacks ? not sure) while waiting for all the other people. We were 30 in total which feels like a lot to be frank but it is what it is.
Also note that while waiting for people but also while on any island you need to pay 20 baht to pay for the access to the toilets. And that you need to pay 150 baht for two chairs (on the beach) or 100 baht for one.
You're all put on a boat and the ride is pretty bumpy but bearable however you cannot see anything outside unless you sit on the front (Not a lot of seats there so first come first served)
You first go to a nice little island (khai nok) and spend time on the beach for snorkeling and relaxing (careful some fish near the rocks bite for some reasons and leave some nasty marks lol)
The second 'island' (khai nui) is a bit more disappointing as you only park a little bit far from it and snorkel around the boat for some time.
The last island (kahi nai) is a cat island where you spend some time relaxing/swimming on the beach or drink some stuff in the various bars surrounded by very cute cats <3
The downside of the two islands where you actually land, is that you're constantly asked if you want to buy stuff by the persons working for the bars. Also I can imagine with the size of the island that with more tourist the experience would have been way worse so I'm not sure if I would recommend doing it outside of the pandemic situation.
Also, during the tour they're giving you access to fruits, drinks and some snacks but nothing that'll fill your tummy so eat before you go there. (That's what we did and were still starving on the way back).
The staff was super nice, and helpful, nothing much more to say about that :)
However, even though Mario was super nice, it was lacking some explanations on the different locations we went through, the only explanation we got most of the time was the translation of the name of the island and that was about it.
To conclude, the experience cost a bit less than the others however, you're packed with lots of people, you have to pay extra for some stuff that easily could have been included, and overall the experience does not feel unique, you feel like another sheep in the crowd.
Quite expensive on the islands as you would expect.
Our two young children enjoyed it very much! Half day trip wasn’t back at pier until 2pm, so the trip wasn’t rushed.
